Spring/Summer 2015 Faculty News


Dr. Ali Pourhashemi (Chemical Engineering) was recognized as the 2015 CBU Featured Engineer for his scholarly work during the calendar year 2014 at the 2015 Engineers Week Luncheon on February 25th along with featured engineers from other engineering organizations. In 2014 he published four books; Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology for Composites: Design, Simulation, and Application (CRC Press), Chemical Process in Liquid and Solid Phase: Properties, Performance and Applications (CRC Press), Chemical and Biochemical Engineering: New Materials and Developed Components (Apple Academic Press), and Engineering Materials: Applied Research and Evaluation Methods (Apple Academic Press). In addition, he published an article entitled “Software Pallet Stringer Temperature Estimation” in the International Journal of Advanced Packaging Technology.

Dr. Pong Malasri (Dean of Engineering) received the 2015 TSPE Distinguished Service Award for his dedicated service to the engineering profession and his engineering contributions locally, state-wide and nationally.  The award was presented to him by his son, Jittapong Malasri, PE (CE’06)  on behalf of the February 26th.  The award was established to recognize the outstanding service of long-time TTennessee Society of Professional Engineers (Memphis Chapter) at the 2015 Engineers Week Banquet on SPE members for their eminent technical contributions to the field of engineering or exceptional contributions to the engineering profession.


Dr. Malasri has been active in many organizations including Memphis-Area Joint Engineers Council (MJEC), International Safe Transit Association (ISTA), and TSPE.  He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Tennessee and one of the 26 ISTA CPLP Professional in the world.  In addition he serves as Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Advanced Packaging Technology.  Under his leadership CBU currently operates an ISTA Certified Packaging Test Lab and hosts the Healthcare Packaging Consortium.
