MSA’S EID-AL-ADHA DINNER: Join the Muslim Students’ Association for a traditional Arabian dinner! All students, faculty, and staff are invited to celebrate Eid al-Adha, a religious holiday which celebrates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice Ismaiel, his son, as an act of devotion to G-d. Admission is only $4.00 and covers a meal consisting of two grilled kebabs skewers, basmati rice, salad, hummus, pita, and a beverage. Hear from successful alumni working in the fields of STEM, Business, Healthcare, Arts, and Social Services about how they got where they are and how their CBU education impacted their professional and personal lives.
• Women’s Leadership Conference
The inaugural CBU Women’s Leadership Conference presented by Christian Brothers University’s Presidential Commission on Women will be a forum to promote women’s personal and professional development and advancement. Women working in academia and the public and private sectors will come together to educate and challenge each other through accomplished speakers, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.
• World of Beers & Chili Cook-off
A favorite event of many alumni, the World of Beers is growing this year! We have added a chili cook-off to the evening’s festivities. All proceeds from the Cook-Off will go to the National Alumni Board’s Teaching Excellence Award.

CBU-DUNAVANT SYMPOSIUM: As part of Alumni & Family Weekend, CBU and the Rotary Club of Memphis East will present the CBU-Dunavant Symposium on Friday, October 2 with the theme of “Mentorship: Preparing Today’s Students for a Better Memphis.” A panel discussion with distinguished public servants will be conducted in Spain Auditorium starting at 9:30 a.m. Networking with area mentoring programs will follow in Canale Arena with lunch and a keynote address by Anna Escobedo Cabral, the 42nd Treasurer of the United States and Unit Chief for Strategic Communications in the External Relations Division of the Inter-American Development Bank. EVENING WITH THE LISIEUX COMMUNITY: The inaugural Evening with the Lisieux Community will be held on October 16 at the Kroc Center. WMC-TV anchor Joe Birch (’78) will introduce our audience to the compelling story of the Community of St. Therese of Lisieux and emcee the event, which kicks off with a word from founder and executive director Sandra Ferrell, whose passion fuels the organization’s efforts to help victims of abuse, sex trafficking and addictions. Lisieux residents will also share their experiences in the program, picking up the pieces and finding new paths. The award-winning Independent Lens film A Path Appears, which shines a light on sex trafficking and addiction and puts a human face on victims, will be screened. After the documentary, guests will enjoy an intermission featuring special desserts, coffee, and live music by The Zoo Girls in the theatre lobby. The intimate evening will end with a performance by John Kilzer, a Memphis-based singer-songwriter who overcame addictions while staying true to his vision as an artist.
