The CBU Healthcare Packaging Consortium hosted a Corrugated Packaging Workshop for high school students on July 30. Twenty students from 14 high schools attended the workshop: Bartlett High School, Bartlett Ninth Grade Academy, Collierville High School, Home Life Academy, Home School, Horn Lake High School, Madison Academic Magnet High School, Middle College High School, Mitchell High School, Ridgeway High School, St. Agnes Academy, St. Benedict’s, Tipton Rosemark Academy, and Whitehaven High School. The workshop was run by Dr. Pong Malasri (Dean of Engineering), Bob Moats (Engineering Technician), Henry Rhodes (Engineering Technician), and Stephen Russell (Chemical Engineering ’16). Six packaging professionals shared their experience and passion over lunch with students: Bret Cook (The Royal Group), Mike Tune (Bayer Consumer Care), Rick Chriswell (New-Tech Packaging), Jerrlyn Rushing (Worldwide Label & Packaging), Parker Hemphill (International Paper), and Larry Rutledge (CBU Packaging Lab). GSK Joins CBU Healthcare Packaging Consortium: GlaxoSmithKline, a science-led global healthcare company, has joined the CBU Healthcare Packaging Consortium. GSK presents in 115 countries. It produces medicines, vaccines and consumer healthcare products.  Melissa Simpson serves as its representative on the consortium. The Healthcare Packaging Consortium was founded in 2010 at CBU by seven founding members: Evergreen Packaging, FedEx, Medtronic, Bayer Consumer Care (formerlly Schering Plough then Merck Consumer Care), Plastic Ingenuity, Smith & Nephew, and Wright Medical. Since then, The Pallet Factory, Olympus Surgical Technologies America, WS Packaging, New-Tech Packaging, MicroPort Orthopedics, The Royal Group, Memphis Bioworks, and GlaxoSmithKline have since  joined the consortium.
