For the third consecutive year, the Christian Brothers University Bucs comprised half of the Academic All-Gulf South Conference men’s basketball team.
Guard Trey Casey (Business Administration ’15), the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year, was a third-time selection as Academic All-GSC after averaging 17.9 points, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game. He was also named First Team All-GSC and All-South Region for the second consecutive season. Casey carries a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Forward Drew Hildreth (Cybersecurity ’16) earned his second consecutive spot on the Academic All-GSC team. Hildreth averaged 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game for the Bucs this season. He carries a 3.46 GPA.
Forward Charlie Oswald (Accounting ’17) joined them on the Academic All-GSC squad. Oswald averaged 8.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, and he has a 3.60 GPA.
CBU placed a total of 14 players on the GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll, with nine men’s players and five women’s players representing CBU: Trey Casey, Dominic Fragale, Cody Garbuzinski, Ike Griffith, Drew Hildreth, Jack Hummel, Jeff Larkin, Ryan McArthy, Charlie Oswald, Mikaela Blissett, Rachel Lee, Taylor Pugh, Emily Reeves, and Breanna Ridgell.
To be nominated for the Academic All-GSC Team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be starters or significant contributors to the team. Freshmen and first-semester transfers are ineligible. SID’s and FAR’s of GSC member schools conduct a joint vote to select the winners. The Academic Honor Roll comprises all players who carry at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA and participate in at least one game, match or meet against outside competition.
