In light of recent events in Ferguson, MO and New York, CBU’s Collegiate Chapter of the NAACP will be hosting “Black Lives Matter” in order to educate, raise awareness and promote positive action.
DEC. 8: SHOW YOUR SUPPORT
Show your support by stopping by the table outside Alfonso Dining Hall to sign the banner and tweet #CBUNAACP.
DEC. 9: WALK OUT TO THE CHALK OUT
Whether you are in class, your dorm, or the caf, walk out at 12:00 p.m. and join the NAACP in Buckman Quad to drink hot cocoa and draw chalk body outlines in the Quad to represent all African Americans who have been gunned down by police officers!
DEC. 10: CHANGE FOR CHANGE
Stop by the table in Alfonso Dining Hall 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. as the NAACP collects change and books to donate to the Ferguson Public Library!
DEC. 11: KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
Join the chapter at 5:00 p.m. in Sabbatini Lounge for the Knowledge is Power teach-in led by Dr. Jeffrey Gross and Dr. Leigh Johnson, and hear from community leaders about the Ferguson case and other justice disparities that still exist even today.
DEC. 12: CANDLELIGHT VIGIL co-sponsored by CBU’S Black Student Association
The vigil will begin at 5:00 p.m.
