The NCAA selected Buccaneer golfer Carter Billingsley (Business Administration ’17) to compete in the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Men’s Golf Super-Regional May 5-7 at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, GA. Billingsley averaged 75 this season for the Bucs, finishing in the top five in three of CBU’s 10 events, and he was in the top 10 in four, including a ninth-place finish in the GSC Championships. Billingsley is the first CBU golfer ever selected for the NCAA postseason field. He joins Valdosta State golfers John Fordham and Alex Jones and West Georgia golfer Corey Evans in the field.

Gulf South Conference baseball coaches voted Buccaneer third baseman Mac Cooley (Special Education ’15) to the All-GSC Second Team. Cooley is hitting .300 with 10 doubles, 18 RBI and 20 runs. Cooley has also started 10 games as pitcher and ranks third on the team in innings pitched and strikeouts.

Kay Cunningham (Plough Library) has been selected as this year’s winner of the Memphis Area Library Council Award for Excellence. This award is given annually to a library staff member in the greater Memphis area who has demonstrated dedication to the profession, notable academic and professional accomplishments, contributed to professional organizations, and been involved in community activities. The awards ceremony will be on May 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Southern College of Optometry Annex.

Alex Othmani (Mechanical Engineering ’17), Caleb Smith (Mechanical Engineering ’14), and Rebecca Wauford (Mechanical Engineering ’15) recently passed the ISTA Certified Packaging Lab Technician Test. ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) allows students to take the technician level test of its three-level Certified Packaging Laboratory Professional (CPLP) Program.  Soon their names will be added to the list of about 250 ISTA Certified Packaging Lab Technicians around the world.
